The updated ADV gets new colours and the Tripper pod from the Meteor 350

  • Royal Enfield hasn’t tinkered much with the Himalayan recipe.
  • It will still be powered by the same 411cc motor.
  • Expect a minor premium for the new model.
  • [UPDATE: Royal Enfield has launched the 2021 Himalayan and you can check out our dedicated launch article for full details.]

We’ve known for a while that Royal Enfield has been working on an update for its adventure tourer, the Himalayan. Spy shots of the ADV have been floating on the internet for quite some time now with the latest set of images giving us the clearest picture of the 2021 model. The incoming Himalayan is likely to get a small price hike with the update, something to the tune of Rs 5,000, which would edge the ex-showroom Delhi price of the bike close to the Rs 2 lakh mark.

What is clearly evident on the Himalayan is the presence of the new Tripper pod. Royal Enfield had promised that the navigational assistant from the Meteor 350 would eventually make way onto its other bikes and the first of which will be this new Himalayan. Just like on the Meteor, the pod is positioned on the top right corner of the instrumentation panel. The new silver colour and revised tank braces-cum-jerry tank mounts are also seen on the bike.

While we do not expect Royal Enfield to fiddle around with the 411cc mill, we hope it makes improvements in the braking department. Braking has consistently been refined over iterations with the last BS6 one managing to offer better brake feel. Hopefully, there’s a fiercer bite and good progression in the system now.
