Ever since its launch the Nissan GT-R has been known as the supercar slayer. And with good reason, the car is brilliant both on the track and on the road. Nissan have announced that there will be a revamped 2012 model with extra oomph

Nissan’s flagship model, the GT-R is one that is complete in everyway. The car is a showcase of what is possible in the field of precision engineering at the moment. Even the harshest of critics struggle to find faults with the car and with its reasonable price tag, the car leaves its competitors for dead. It is quite hard to imagine then, as to what improvements can be made to the GT-R.

The 2012 GT-R has gone the green way and become more efficient than the current car. However the engine, gearbox and chassis have been tuned to extract even more out of the GT-R

Amongst notable changes to the engine are increased intake efficency, additional intake manifolds at the head of each unit, enlarged intake duct for the intercooler, improved exhaust emissions, air mixture ratio and ignition timing have been improved along with reduced exhaust gas emissions.

The gearbox has been strengthened with a stronger shift fork and a stronger fixing bearing for the flywheel bearing. Competition grade differential oil will be now used as standard in the GT-R.

The body has been reinforced in parts such as behind the engine and dash panel which will contribute to greater structural rigidity reflected in better handling. . Apart from being a more powerful and efficient car the 2012 GT-R will also feature something called an asymmetric suspension. What the system does is compensates the weight of the driver on the other side of the car, you can’t get much more obsessed with weight distribution than that. Also, the body has been further stiffened and the transmission enhanced to up the performance level to a whole new level.

Nissan also say that they will deliver a more track focussed hardcore GT-R for the UK market some time next year, which will still come with that competitive Nissan GT-R price tag.
