Yamaha has showcased the much awaited the YZF-R7 motorcycle at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. The motorcycle was showcased at a dealers’ event sometime back and is expected to arrive in India sooner than you think!

Yamaha YZF-R7 Design

The Yamaha YZF-R7 is a faired sportsbike which takes its inspiration from the YZF-R1 and the YZF-R6.

YZF-R7 Engine and Underpinnings

The YZF-R7 gets a 689cc, liquid-cooled, crossplane-twin engine that makes 73.4PS at 8,750rpm and 67Nm at 6,500rpm which is paired to a 6-speed gearbox, with a slip-and-assist clutch.

Underpinnings include a twin-spar aluminum frame, suspension includes a fully-adjustable 41mm KYB inverted fork and a preload/rebound adjustable monoshock. 298mm dual disc brakes at the front and a 245mm disc brake at the rear allow the bikes to stop and for added safety, they are equipped with dual-channel ABS which can be switched off for the rear wheel. The bikes get 17-inch alloy wheels at both ends.

Yamaha YZF-R7 Features

In terms of features, both motorcycles come equipped with a 5-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity for music control call/SMS alerts and turn-by-turn navigation. Both bikes come with a ride-by-wire throttle which allows for switchable traction control, wheelie control and riding modes.

Expected Price, Launch Date and Rivals

The YZF-R7 is expected at Rs 10 - Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom) and is expected to be launched in India sometime later this year. Once launched, the YZF-R7 will go against the Honda CBR650R and the Triumph Daytona 660.
