Mahindra recently put up its newly launched Thar Roxx 5-door’s first unit with VIN 0001 for auction, and bidding for the SUV concluded at a massive sum of Rs 1.31 crore (ex-showroom). The Indian carmaker had carried a similar auction for the Thar 3-door which was auctioned for Rs 1.11 crore.

The money generated from the auction will be donated to a non-profit organization. Last time around, the auction money was donated to COVID relief organizations. 

A Little About The VIN 0001 Thar Roxx

As mentioned above, the auctioned Thar Roxx was the first unit of the off-roader and comes with a VIN 0001 number. The special unit also gets a badge with Anand Mahindra’s signature on it. The Thar Roxx is available in 6 different variants and the unit auctioned was the top-spec AX7 L diesel automatic 4WD variant of the Thar Roxx. The winner gets to choose the car in his favorite colour. 

Features On Board 

The top-spec AX7 L Thar Roxx is loaded to the brim with plentiful features such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, wireless phone charger, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a 9-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, automatic climate control with rear AC vents, and powered driver’s seat. 

In terms of safety, it gets ABS with EBD, six airbags, electronic parking brake with auto hold, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera and Level-2 ADAS.

Powertrain 

The winner’s special Thar Roxx will be powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine which makes 175 PS and 370 Nm and is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. It comes with a four-wheel drive system. The Thar Roxx is also available with a RWD option and a turbo-petrol engine.

Rivals 

The Mahindra Thar Roxx is priced from Rs 12.99 lakh to Rs 20.49 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom). These prices are for the RWD variants and prices for the 4WD variants are yet to be revealed. The Thar Roxx rivals the Force Gurkha 5-door and is a larger alternative to the Maruti Jimny.
