The Mahindra Thar Roxx is arguably the most important car launch of the year, at least in the context of the Indian automotive space. Prices for the 5-door Thar range between Rs 12.99 lakh and Rs 20.49 lakh (ex-showroom), but that’s only for the rear-wheel drive (4x2) variants, and the full pricing, including 4x4 variants are yet to be revealed.
We’ve covered everything there is to know about the Thar Roxx through multiple news pieces, which you can have a look at here. But we only recently got a chance to put it to test and find out its real-world performance figures. Before we take a look at those numbers, a quick spec check.

The Thar Roxx, just like the standard Thar, can be had with both petrol and diesel engines. But unlike the 3-door Thar, the four-wheel drivetrain is limited to the diesel engine. Both the engines have also received an uprated tune to accommodate for the extra weight that the 5-door Thar has to carry around. Transmission options include both 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic.

This performance story is for the Thar Roxx 175PS/370Nm diesel automatic 4x2 powertrain.
