The 2024 Kia Sonet Facelift Will Be The Second Model In Its Segment To Get This Important Safety Feature

• Kia Sonet facelift will be unveiled on December 14

• New features include ADAS tech, all-digital driver’s display, 360-degree camera system and more 

• Exterior updates include a new grille, updated LED headlights and DRLs, new connected LED tail lamps 

• Will continue with same powertrain options including a 1.2 NA petrol, 1.5-litre diesel and a 1-litre turbo petrol with a choice of manual or automatic transmission options

Earlier this month, Kia released the first official teaser of the 2024 Sonet. This will be the sub-4m SUV’s first major update and the Korean carmaker is expected to go all out for the same. The new teaser confirms that the compact SUV will get ADAS tech.

2024 Kia Sonet with ADAS tech 

The most interesting update on the Sonet facelift is the inclusion of ADAS technology. As seen in the teaser, the car comes with forward collision alert and autonomous emergency braking (AEB). While more details of the ADAS suite have not yet been revealed, we can expect the compact SUV to get others like lane departure alert, blindspot warning, attention assist, and more. It is unclear if Kia will also include adaptive cruise control with the Sonet. 

While many features of the ADAS suite might not be utilised, the forward collision warning and autonomous braking can be a life saver in certain situations. 

Kia Sonet Facelift - What do we know so far?

Test mules of the updated Sonet have been spotted on Indian roads multiple times already. From these, we can expect the car to include revised front grille surrounded by new LED headlights and DRLs, LED fog lamps, and a revised bumper. Towards the side profile, no major changes are noticeable except for the new alloys. The new teaser also reveals the connected LED tail lamps similar to the Seltos. 

On the inside, expect features like a new HVAC control panel, 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel, a 10.25-inch digital driver instrument cluster, a 360-degree camera system and more. Other features likely to be retained include a touchscreen infotainment, wireless phone charger, connected car tech and automatic climate control.

In terms of engine options, not much has changed for the 2024 Kia Sonet. Kia will continue to offer the existing engine and gearbox options as per the details below:

2024 Kia Sonet Price And Rivals 

Kia shall reveal the pricing and variants of the Sonet facelift in early 2024. That said, thanks to the addition of new features and other changes, we can expect a slight premium over the current prices. For reference, the outgoing model range starts from Rs 7.79 lakh (ex-showroom). The new Sonet will compete against the likes of the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Nissan Magnite, and Mahindra XUV300.
