Tata Sierra

The all-new Tata Sierra has arrived at a starting price of Rs. 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom), and apart from its nostalgic nameplate and design, its variant and powertrain strategy is another headline, catching attention. The Sierra is available in 7 variants and 3 engine options, and 5 transmission options, which gives buyers more flexibility to choose the right model for them. In this article, we break down each variant and explain which powertrain you get with them.

2025 Tata Sierra Smart+

Starting with the base Smart+ variant, it is offered with the new 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol and the 1.5-litre diesel engines. Transmission option is limited to a 6-speed manual; no automatic transmission for this variant.

2025 Tata Sierra Pure

The Pure variant is not very different from the Smart+. This variant also gets the 1.5-litre NA petrol and the 1.5-litre diesel engines, but you get the option to choose a manual or an automatic gearbox with the engine, which makes it the most affordable automatic variant in the Sierra lineup.

2025 Tata Sierra Pure+

Powertrain options on the Pure+ variant are based on the Pure variant. It gets the same engine and transmission options, which include both the 1.5-litre NA petrol and the 1.5-litre diesel engines, available in both manual and automatic gearbox options.

Tata Sierra

2025 Tata Sierra Adventure

Moving up to the Adventure variant, this is the mid-spec variant in the Sierra lineup and is offered with the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol and the 1.5-litre diesel engines. The petrol engine is available in both a 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic; however, the diesel engine can be had only in the 6-speed manual gearbox.

2025 Tata Sierra Adventure+

The new turbo-petrol range of the Sierra starts from the Adventure+ variant. All 3 engines are available with this variant. The 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine is available exclusively in a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox across the range, while the 1.5-litre diesel can be had in both manual and automatic gearbox options in this variant. The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine is, however, available only in the manual avatar for the Adventure+.

Tata Sierra

2025 Tata Sierra Accomplished

The powertrain options story of the Accomplished variant is the same as what we have seen in the Adventure+. All three engines are available here, with the 1.5-litre NA engine being offered in only a 6-speed manual gearbox.

2025 Tata Sierra Accomplished+

The Accomplished+ is the top-spec variant of the Tata Sierra, but it is not offered with the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. The engine options for this top-spec variant are the 1.5-litre diesel, available in both manual and automatic transmission options, and the 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine with an automatic gearbox.

2025 Tata Sierra Price and Rivals

Tata Sierra is now available at an introductory price of Rs. 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom) and is offered in a total of 7 variants. Bookings are set to open on December 16, and the full pricing list will be announced in the first week of December, with deliveries slated to begin from January 15, 2026.

The new Sierra will take on segment contenders like the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Honda Elevate, MG Astor, and in-house rival in the form of the Tata Curvv. Not to forget the German siblings, the Skoda Kushaq and the Volkswagen Taigun. Renault's upcoming 2026 Duster and its sibling, the Nissan Tekton, are also expected to be other contenders against the Sierra.

ZigSays…

Tata’s approach with the Sierra makes the variant-powertrain game stronger than what we have seen in this segment. You’re no longer choosing variants just for features, but genuinely picking the engine and gearbox that suit your driving style and budget. Whether you want efficiency, everyday usability, or strong performance, the lineup has been laid out with precision.
