We recently reviewed the Bullet 650, the newest addition to Royal Enfield’s 650 lineup. Here are the things we like and don’t like about the bike.

Design  

Design

The design language of the Royal Enfield Bullet 650 is unmistakably timeless and will appeal to classic motorcycle enthusiasts, while still feeling fresh and relevant to younger riders. The 650’s styling finds a balance between old-school charm and modernity.

Comfortable Ergonomics

Ergonomics

The upright riding position, paired with the elevated handlebar, places all the controls within easy reach. With a wide, single-piece seat and slightly forward-set footpegs, it offers a highly comfortable riding experience that is well suited for long-distance touring. 

Engine characteristics 

Engine

The Bullet 650 gets the tried and tested 647.95cc parallel-twin, air and oil-cooled engine producing 47PS and 52.3Nm, paired to a 6-speed gearbox. It is the same motor seen on the Classic 650, the Super Meteor 650, and all other 650s. The engine is smooth, tractable, and relaxed at highway cruising speeds. It delivers easy-going performance, feels effortlessly composed on the highway with a strong mid-range torque that makes cruising and overtaking easy.

2 Things We Don’t Like 

Vibrations At Highway Speeds 

Ergonomics

While taking the bike on highway runs, we felt mild vibrations through the seat, handlebar, and the fuel tank around 100kmph. This is not something one would expect from a 650cc parallel-twin motorcycle, especially during long highway rides where refinement plays a key role in rider comfort.

Heavy Kerb Weight 

Weight

At 243kg (kerb), the bike is quite heavy, and that can make it difficult to manage at low speeds and while parking. While the weight is well masked once the motorcycle gets moving, filtering through traffic or manoeuvring the bike in tight parking spaces requires considerable effort and can be cumbersome for some riders.
