The Maruti Dzire and Honda Amaze are two nameplates that have been the stalwarts in the Indian auto space when it comes to entry-level sedans. The Dzire has just been given a generational makeover, and as a result, has been upgraded in all aspects. On the other hand, we have the Amaze’s existing model which will be replaced with the new model on December 4, 2024.

The start price of the new Dzire undercuts that of the Amaze by Rs 50,000, while the top-spec variant of the Amaze is more affordable by around Rs 10,000. There is hardly anything to separate the two in terms of dimensions. The Dzire is marginally wider and taller, while the Amaze has a larger wheelbase. Where the Amaze outshines the Dzire is its larger boot space, but we’ll see how much of that on-paper advantage translates into the real world in our video comparison.

The new Dzire gets plenty of premium as well as safety features over the Amaze, including amenities like a 360-degree camera, sunroof, a larger infotainment, more speakers, 6 standard airbags and a wireless phone charger. The only features that the Amaze gets and the Dzire does not are paddle shifters.

The Amaze’s engine gets an extra cylinder and also produces more power, while the Dzire produces slightly more torque. Both sedans come with a 5-speed manual transmission. The Dzire also gets an optional 5-speed AMT, while the Amaze offers you the option of a CVT. The Dzire’s claimed fuel efficiency is much higher than that of the Amaze. 

The Dzire is also available with a factory-fitted CNG kit, specifications of which can be checked here. The Amaze does not have any such option.

Apart from competing with each other, the Amaze and Dzire also rival the Tata Tigor and the Hyundai Aura.
