When a car’s due for a serious update, a new-generation model does not just tweak what’s already there, but reimagines it altogether. These changes often involve complete design revamps, significant tech enhancements, and reworked interiors. If you have been holding out for news on upcoming new-gen launches, this article is for you. We have rounded up five cars that are expected to get full-generation upgrades soon.
Some have already been spotted testing, while others are still the subject of strong speculation. Check them out.
Expected Price: Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom)
The Hyundai Venue is expected to enter its next generation soon. While Hyundai has already updated the current model with new variants, the next-gen Venue could bring sharper styling, a new platform, and a completely redesigned interior. You can also expect a larger touchscreen and new cabin materials. Existing powertrain options, including the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 1.0-litre turbo-petrol, are likely to continue, paired with both manual and automatic transmissions.

Expected Price: Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom)
After over two decades of staying true to its rugged, no-frills identity, the Mahindra Bolero is finally gearing up for a full-generation revamp. Expected to debut on Mahindra’s NFA (New Flexible Architecture) platform, the new Bolero will retain its iconic boxy silhouette but feature sharper styling, flush door handles, and bigger alloy wheels. The platform is designed to support diesel, petrol, hybrid, and even electric setups, so alongside the familiar diesel engine, we might also see a hybrid or EV option in the future. While the current-gen model may continue for budget-conscious buyers, the new-gen Bolero will likely target a more premium audience.

Expected Price: Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom)
Kia is preparing to launch the next-generation Seltos by late 2025. The new model has been spotted testing overseas and will get a more boxy design, new LED headlamps, updated alloy wheels, and vertical tail lamps. Inside, it’s expected to have a redesigned dashboard with twin 12.3-inch screens and a new centre console. While the current engine options may continue, Kia could also introduce a strong-hybrid version, possibly with all-wheel drivetrain.

Expected Price: Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom)
The MG Astor is due for a major overhaul, with a next-gen version expected to launch around 2026. While the current model already offers tech like ADAS and other niceties, the upcoming update could bring a completely reworked design, a new platform, and possibly an additional powertrain option. Currently, the MG Astor is powered solely by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, following the recent discontinuation of the 1.3-litre turbo-petrol choice.

Expected Price: Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom)
As the Astor is expected to get a new-gen update, its electric counterpart, the MG ZS EV, is also likely to receive a next-generation upgrade. It recently made headlines for its massive price drop, making it a more sensible buy in the EV space. But behind this move lies the fact that the ZS EV is offered with Battery-as-a-Service plan. Notably it is based on a 2017 platform, which is now showing its age amidst newer competition. The upcoming next-gen ZS EV is expected to debut in India by 2026, featuring a born-EV platform, larger battery, and amenities like vehicle-to-load (V2L) technology.

Expected Price: Rs 65 lakh (ex-showroom)
Wrapping up the list is the all-electric Mercedes-Benz CLA, which is set to arrive in India around August 2025. It will be launched in an all-electric version first, followed by its petrol-hybrid variants. It features a sleek coupe design, and a tech-rich cabin with the MBUX Superscreen, Globally, the CLA EV delivers a 792 km of claimed range from an 85 kWh battery pack option. It supports ultra-fast charging up to 320 kW, adding 300 km of range in just 10 minutes. You can learn more about it here.
