On its official India website, Mercedes-Benz has listed its upcoming entry-level electric sedan, the CLA Electric. While its launch date has not been announced, we expect the EV to hit the Indian roads sometime around August 2025. The CLA EV stays true to the CLA’s characteristics of offering a sporty body while looking premium at the same time. Moreover, the EV features cutting-edge technology to maximise range and offer quick charging times.
So without further ado, here’s a look at all the details:
Apart from the design looking more modern, the entry-level sedan has grown in size. Here’s exactly how it has been made larger in size:

The CLA EV is all about style and glamour in a small and sporty package. It is in line with Mercedes’ new design language with the new star-theme LED tail lights and the large grille, which houses multiple tri-pointed star elements. The profile looks sleek and stylish, and the coupe design adds to the sporty quotient.

It sports an aggressively styled bumper, a long bonnet with cuts and creases for a sharper look and striking 18-inch alloy wheels. The connected headlights upfront and the flush door handles further add to the premiumness quotient.

The highlights of the interior are the MBUX superscreen, which features a 10.25-inch driver’s display, a 14.6-inch infotainment screen and a 14-inch entertainment screen for the passenger. The infotainment runs on the newest MB.OS operating system, and also features AI functions, including ChatGPT, for a more futuristic and smarter operation. Complementing the sporty vibe of the exterior, the interior comes with sports seats.

As you can see in the image, it gets tastefully curated multi-colour ambient lighting. It also features amenities like multi-zone climate control, powered and ventilated front seats, a wireless phone charger, and a panoramic glass roof.
It also gets a suite of ADAS features as well which take care of your safety.
It has been revealed that the CLA EV will come with the latest battery technology with an 800-volt system, with the aim of maximising efficiency. The setup is meant for low energy consumption and allows a WLTP range of up to 750 km. Additionally, it supports fast charging of up to 320 kW, which helps you
While the exact specifications of the India-spec model are not revealed yet, here’s a look at the CLA EV’s powertrain options for the global model

As seen above, both versions come with an 85 kWh battery pack. Mercedes claims that charging is as quick as refuelling, as the EV takes just 10 minutes to recharge and provides a range of over 300 km!

The CLA Electric is expected to be priced around Rs 65 lakh (ex-showroom). It will go up against the BYD Seal, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Volvo C40 Recharge. It will also be an EV alternative to the likes of the BMW 2 Series and the Audi A4.
The CLA EV surely proves to be an exciting option as the specifications look to be promising, and it does not feel like just an entry-level EV. Mercedes will hope to attract the youth and smaller families with the new CLA EV.
