Harley-Davidson has always been part of the India Bike Week and to make this year’s IBW extra special, the American bikemaker will launch its sporty cruiser, the Sportster S, in India during the event.

The Sportster S broke cover a few months back in July 2021 and it’s the newest cruiser in Harley-Davidson’s lineup. Justifying the ‘sport’ in its name, the Sportster S gets a more natty design with a Fat Bob-like fascia coupled to a flat tracker-like single seat and upswept twin exhausts.

Even the riding posture is more aggressive than your usual Harley-Davidson cruisers, courtesy the low flat handlebar, 750mm seat height, and the chunky 160/180-section (F/R) tyres.

The Harley-Davidson Sportster S employs a 1250cc liquid-cooled V-twin engine (same as the Pan America 1250), putting out a more conservative 121PS and 127Nm. And to keep all that torque in check, you get corner-sensitive traction control, ABS, and customisable riding modes, all accessible via a circular 4-inch TFT instrument cluster.

Meanwhile, the bike is sprung on a Showa 43mm USD fork and a link-type Showa piggyback monoshock, both fully adjustable.

In the US, the Sportster S retails for the equivalent of around Rs 11.5 lakh. Bringing Indian taxes and duties into the picture, we expect the bike to cost around Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom) here.
