Bounce Electric Scooter Spotted Testing In Production-ready Form highlights

After acquiring 22Motors, Bounce EV has been quite busy gearing up for the launch of its first electric scooter, which we have managed to spot sans camouflage. 

Given that the likeliest inspiration for it is the 22Motors’ Flow, it’s no wonder that the Bounce EV also gets a similar flowing design with a round all-LED headlamp and neatly tucked pillion footrests. The seat, however, seems to have a different cover.

The spy shots also show the LCD instrument cluster, single disc brakes at both ends, and a hub-mounted motor. Expect the Bounce e-scooter to be more powerful than the 2.1kW motor on the Flow, considering the competition is hotter than ever.

The USP, though, is the e-scooter’s swappable battery tech, which should accelerate EV adoption in the country. Bounce also plans to introduce battery rental plans to keep the vehicle’s cost in check. This essentially means that you will have to pay only for the scooter (without the battery) and then opt for monthly or yearly rental plans for the batteries. With this arrangement, the company aims to price the electric scooter extremely competitively, at around Rs 60,000 - Rs 70,000 (ex-showroom).

These made-in-India batteries will be available at Bounce’s elaborate network of swap stations, translating to effortless swapping and minimum stoppage time between journeys. And since you aren’t paying for a battery, you needn’t fear about the condition of the swapped battery.

All in all, the Bounce e-scooter has us quite excited. And with the company planning to start deliveries by January 2022, you won’t have a long waiting time either.
