The launch date of the 100cc bike has been revealed

JUST IN: Honda’s all set to launch its much-awaited 100cc commuter in India. The Japanese bikemaker sent a Block Your Date for March 15 2023, asking us to ‘Gear up for a shining future’.

So what does that tell us? The #Hondaki100 hashtag confirms that it’ll be a 100cc bike after all. A Shining future’, meanwhile, indicates the fact that Honda could very well name the bike Shine 100, trying to bank on the tried-and-tested legacy that the Shine has. The Honda Shine is, in fact, the best-selling 125cc bike in India. In January 2023, it sold nearly as much as the next four bikes on the list combined.

What could also debut in the upcoming bike is a sloper engine, a format that Honda India hasn’t really used since the 90s. This format will not only bring about cost effectiveness, but will also help Honda give it a price that’ll ‘positively shock’ us, as they’ve promised. That could even invoke a sense of nostalgia among enthusiasts who have fond memories with these bulletproof and fuel-efficient engines from the 90s.

If the upcoming bike has the ever Hero Splendor in its crosshairs, immaculate pricing will be the key. An aggressive price tag of Rs 62,000 (ex-showroom) could very well be on the cards if Honda manages to use the full potential of this engine. Once here, it’ll go up against the Hero HF 100, HF Deluxe and the Bajaj Platina 100.
