Bajaj Auto has announced that the Bajaj Freedom 125 will be available across 77 towns in the country by August 15, 2024, when India celebrates its 77th Independence Day. The manufacturer has decided to accelerate its plans of making the CNG bike available in most parts of the country due to the overwhelming response and sales inquiries since the bike’s launch on July 5, 2024. 

At the time of the Bajaj Freedom 125’s launch, the manufacturer said that select variants of the bike would be available in Maharashtra and Gujarat first and will be made available across the rest of the country in a phased manner over the coming 3-4 months. Out of the three variants, the NG04 Disc LED was first made available in Gujarat and Maharashtra and the other two variants were on course to be available from August 2024 onwards. But after receiving over 30,000 inquiries within the first week of the launch, Bajaj Auto has decided to accelerate those plans. 

The Bajaj Freedom 125 is available in three variants and the prices start from Rs 95,000 (ex-showroom). It is the world’s first CNG bike and is powered by a 125cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine producing 9.5PS and 9.7Nm. It gets a CNG tank with a capacity of 2kg and it is mounted under the long, flat single-piece seat. It also gets an auxiliary petrol tank with a capacity of 2 litres. The bike has a claimed mileage of 102km per kg in CNG-only mode and 65kmpl in petrol-only mode. As it is the first CNG bike in the world, it doesn’t have any direct rivals yet but will face competition from other commuter bikes like the Honda Shine 125, Hero Glamour, Bajaj Pulsar 125, Hero Xtreme 125R and TVS Raider 125.
