Quick Highlights
The 2025 Yamaha R3 Design has been patented in India
The bike could be launched in India soon
Features a lot of changes compared to the current gen Yamaha R3
The 2025 Yamaha R3 has been patented in India. This could be an indication that the Japanese-manufacturer is planning to launch it in India soon. The 2025 YZF-R3 has received a lot of changes both in terms of design and features when compared to the currently available Yamaha R3.

The first thing that stands out on the 2025 Yamaha R3 is the more aggressive supersport design. The bike looks a lot more sharper and has fairing-mounted winglets, which add to the look overall. The new LED DRL setup also gives the bike a more modern look when compared to the current generation Yamaha R3.
In terms of mechanical changes, the bike now comes with a slip-and-assist clutch. This was something the current Yamaha R3 lacked. With the addition of the slip-and-assist clutch, the bike will allow riders to do more aggressive downshifts.

Yamaha has also made some changes to the bike’s features. The biggest change is the new negatively lit-LCD instrument console which offers smartphone connectivity and related bits. The LCD console gets smartphone connectivity via the Yamaha Y-Connect app and offers call/SMS alerts.
Other than the addition of these bits, the bike remains mechanically unchanged. It is still powered by the same 321cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine which outputs 42PS and 29.5Nm. In terms of underpinnings, the bike gets an inverted fork and monoshock suspension setup. It rolls on 17-inch alloys with braking duties being taken care of by a 298mm front and 220mm rear disc setup.

We expect the bike to come to India later this year at a price that is slightly above the current Yamaha R3’s price. Which, for perspective, comes at a price of Rs 4,64,900 (ex-showroom, Delhi). We expect the 2025 Yamaha R3 to come at a premium that is around Rs 10,000 to 15,000, so expect it to be priced at around the Rs 4.70 lakh mark ex-showroom.
