The 450 SR’s newly-developed parallel-twin engine dishes out 50PS!

CFMoto has finally launched its newest supersport, the 450 SR. This is the production guise of the outlandish SR-C21 concept showcased last year. For now, the bike has been launched in China at an equivalent price of Rs 3.82 lakh.

One glance at the CFMoto 450 SR and you’ll be slightly disheartened that the Chinese bikemaker has toned down the styling of the bike. However, it retains the angry-looking LED DRLs, and to make it road-legal, now features LED headlights. Furthermore, the bike also gets mirror-mounted LED indicators.

While the disc covers and caliper vents as well as the underseat exhaust from the concept is gone, the 450 SR retains its winglets. As per the bikemaker, these aren’t just for aesthetic purposes, but generate a downforce of 2kg at a speed of 120kmph.

Complementing the serious, track-focused styling is the brand’s newly developed 450cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine developing develops 50.69PS and 39Nm, which isn’t much when you compare it with the KTM’s 373.2cc single-cylinder mill that makes 43PS and 37Nm. But instead of the usual 180-degree crankshaft that we usually see on CFMoto’s bikes, this one gets a 270-degree crankshaft. That gives the engine a raspy exhaust note that is usually associated with 90-degree v-twin engine.

Of course, with that performance, the 450 SR no longer needs the Ohlins suspension and dual discs up front like we saw on the concept. Instead, the supersport now relies on USD fork and monoshock to take care of suspension duties, while a 320mm/230mm disc setup is deployed to drop anchor.

The CFMoto 450 SR packs some nifty features too. It gets a TFT instrument console, however, the most interesting bit is its height-adjustable seat. The 450 SR’s saddle can be adjusted to 785mm, 795mm or 815mm, which shouldn’t deter shorter riders from using the bike.

The CFMoto 450 SR is likely to head to the European market next, but it is unlikely to make its debut in the Indian market. Though the Chinese brand has four products on sale in the country, there’s been no improvement in the sales and service network of the company. If it arrives on our shores, its primary competitor would be the KTM RC 390.
