Meet the Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric that comes with EQ technology and is expected to arrive in markets by 2026. The GLC is one of the best-selling Mercedes-Benz models, and we expect the electric iteration to take that legacy even further, along with the conventionally powered version.
The electric SUV comes with a lot of new tech, impressive claimed range, power-packed performance, and a very premium interior. All of this combined makes the electric GLC feel well-packaged and appealing.
So without further ado, let’s take a closer look at what the electric GLC is all about…
To begin with the design, the new electric GLC stays true to the familiar silhouette of its ICE sibling, but Mercedes-Benz has given it distinctive EV touches that set it apart. At the front, it gets a large enclosed grille finished with bold chrome accents and a fresh design for the LED headlights featuring a star-shaped pattern, giving it a modern and futuristic look. The bumper has been reworked with sharper lines, adding a sportier edge to the SUV’s premium stance. Fun fact- As many as 942 backlit dots flank the illuminated three-pointed star in the centre.

Move to the sides, and the new 20-inch aero-optimised alloys catch your eye, enhancing both efficiency and style. At the rear, the taillights look identical to those on the new electric CLA, and you also get two horizontal light bars giving it a connected effect. It gets a well-integrated roof-mounted spoiler as well to add a hint of sportiness to the overall design. Chrome treatment to the lower half of the bumpers adds a bit of extra bling to round off the rear design.
Step inside the electric GLC, and it immediately feels like a space designed to impress both drivers and passengers alike. The cabin carries forward Mercedes-Benz’s signature luxury but adds an extra layer of modern flair with EV-specific touches. Taking centre is the 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen, the largest screen that Mercedes has introduced up until now.

The dashboard features sleek turbine-style AC vents, premium soft-touch materials, and ambient lighting with multiple colour options that set the mood for every drive. As with most modern gadgets, the infotainment here gets plenty of AI-assisted features as well. Mercedes has ditched the touch-sensitive controls on the steering wheel and replaced them with physical buttons that are always welcome.
Apart from the massive infotainment that pretty much comes with everything that you would need, there are some other cool features too to set the mood right. The top ones include a panoramic sunroof, active ambient lighting, Apple CarPlay (wireless connectivity), and a premium Burmester sound system. Other than that, you also get ventilated and powered seats and multi-colour ambient lighting.

Safety remains uncompromised with a full suite of level-2 ADAS features like lane-keep assist, auto emergency braking, lane departure warning, and more. You also get a 360-degree camera.
The GLC EV is housed on the new 800V-compatible MB.EA platform. It comes with a 94 kWh battery pack, which is available with both the rear-wheel-drive GLC 300+ and the all-wheel-drive GLC 400 4Matic. It will be interesting to see which one Mercedes-Benz launches in India. The RWD version gets a single motor that makes around 375 PS, while the AWD iteration makes 490 PS.
The massive battery supports DC fast charging of up to 330kW, and you can recharge the EV from 10% to 80% in just 24 minutes. You can get up to 303km in just 10 minutes. Another good aspect is that the top-spec GLC EV delivers a WLTP-claimed range of up to 713km on a single charge.

The GLC EV’s air suspension is from the S-Class itself, giving you the best ride possible! There is also rear-axle steering for enhanced agility. While the GLC EV is not meant for off-roading, it comes with off-roading features like a Terrain Mode and a transparent bonnet view.
The GLC EV is expected to be launched globally in the first half of 2026, and its India debut could follow soon after! Upon its launch, we expect it to be priced around the Rs 80-90 lakh mark (ex-showroom). It will compete with the upcoming Audi Q6 e-tron, Porsche Macan EV, and should be a slightly more expensive alternative to the Tesla Model Y.

With its blend of luxury, cutting-edge technology, and a driving experience tailored for the electric age, the Mercedes-Benz GLC EV makes a strong case for itself in the premium SUV space. It not just flexes its electric prowess, but also comes with a sense of sophistication, comfort, and performance.

The plush interior with new tech, and quick charging with over 700 km of claimed range will definitely appeal to the Indian buyer. The EV infrastructure in India is continuously growing, and a German mid-size SUV with certain mechanical features borrowed from the S-Class and with futuristic tech is always welcome. We hope that Mercedes launches it on our shores as soon as possible.
