Mercedes-Benz is all set to launch the 2023 (second-gen) GLC on our shores and here are five things you can expect from one of Merc’s popular sellers

Mercedes-Benz India is all set to launch the 2023 GLC on August 09. It’s the first generation update for one of Mercedes’ popular sellers in India. Pre-launch bookings for the second-gen GLC are already underway and the luxury SUV will come in two broad trims: GLC 300 (petrol) and GLC 220d (diesel). If you had your eyes set on Merc’s newest SUV, you are at the right place, as we expound five details you need to know ahead of its introduction.

Exterior Design

It still is identifiable as a GLC as the design is revolutionary rather than groundbreaking. The grille is now a size larger with the tri-pointed star taking centre stage, flanked by a pair of sleeker LED headlights, giving it a more aggressive look. Come to the side, and the lines are now softer, giving it a cleaner look and the large dual-tone alloys gives it a beefy stance. New angular tail lamps round off the overall design.

Interior Design

Step inside the GLC and you’d know that Mercedes has taken the game forward. The brand new dashboard design is a straight lift off the C-Class. Your eyes will be drawn to the massive 11.9-inch MBUX touchscreen infotainment system, which replaces most of the buttons and knobs. The driver also gets his own party trick in the form of a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display.

A cool bit we love is the ambient lighting, which elevates the overall cabin experience, especially at night. And the turbine-like AC vents also operate with a satisfying click. You can also pick from three interior hues, which we have detailed in our exclusive report

The 2023 GLC is expected to come packing multiple-zone climate control, connected car tech, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a panoramic sunroof, a Burmester 3D surround sound system, a powered tailgate as well as powered front seats. Its safety kit should consist of multiple airbags, electronic stability control, a tyre pressure monitoring system and ADAS.

Engine Options

As mentioned earlier, the GLC will come in two trims: 300 (petrol) and 220d (diesel). Both variants get a 2-litre engine, teamed with mild-hybrid tech giving a 23PS boost under hard acceleration and all-wheel drive. To make life easier, we have compiled their specifications in an easy-to-read table:

Expected Price And Rivals

Considering the crazy amount of features and tech the new GLC packs, it will command a significant premium over the outgoing model that was priced at Rs 62 lakh (ex-showroom). The new GLC will renew its rivalry with the BMW X3, Audi Q5, and Volvo XC60.
