We are intrigued more by this product than the MG Cyberster… Read to know more, why?

The MG M9 is an upcoming all-electric luxury MPV which will be positioned as a luxury offering in MG’s lineup and is expected to come as a seven-seater configuration only. It features a large footprint and is likely to serve as an option for families looking for spacious electric mobility with modern features.

This MPV will be sold through its “MG Select” sub-brand, which is a premium vertical distinct from its regular showrooms.

Here are the top 5 things you should know about the MG M9:

Manufactured As CKD

According to our sources, the MG M9 is expected to be a CKD or SKD product, i.e. Semi Knocked Down, which means that it will be imported as kits and will be assembled in India at JSW MG Motor’s Halol facility.

While this doesn't classify as a made-in-India product, taking the CKD route usually allows the manufacturer to avoid higher import duties when compared to Completely Built Units (CBUs). This is an added benefit for the manufacturers to price the product a bit aggressively.

Interior And Features

As seen at the Auto Expo 2025, the MG M9 is expected to have a luxurious and tech-loaded interior. A massive 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital driver's display, and a 12-speaker premium audio system are believed to be among the list of features. Convenience features include three-zone climate control, ambient lighting, and multiple USB-C charging connections.

Passenger comfort will be a key feature of the M9. The second row is planned to include captain seats with reclining, ventilation, heating, and massaging functions, making it particularly appealing to people who prefer to be driven. Powered sliding doors, a panoramic sunroof, and powered sunshades enhance the in-cabin experience.

Comfort

With a long wheelbase and a wide body, it maximises legroom and shoulder space in all three rows. The second-row seats will provide ample space, while the third row is anticipated to be adult-friendly, unlike many other three-row vehicles. Large glass windows and a flat floor will help to provide a more airy experience to the passengers.

For buyers seeking a chauffeur-driven EV with luxury and comfort as key objectives, the M9 may be one of the more spacious and practical options available.

Powertrain

The M9 is believed to be driven by a single electric motor that powers the front wheels and develops 245 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. It could be powered by a 90 kWh battery pack with a claimed WLTP range of around 430 km. MG claims a 0-100 km/h time of 9.9 seconds, which is relatively quick for a vehicle of this size.

DC fast-charging capabilities should be present, though particular charging speeds have yet to be confirmed. We expect it to support 11 kW AC charging and up to 120 kW DC fast-charging.

BONUS: Colour Options

The MG M9 will be offered in the following three colours:

  • Mystic Grey

  • Luminous White

  • Cardiff Black

These are expected to be finished in metallic or pearlescent tones, consistent with its positioning as a premium MPV. While not an extensive palette, it focuses on subtlety and sophistication.

Expected Price And Rivals

We anticipate the MG M9 to be priced around Rs 70 lakh (ex-showroom), placing it in a more niche market. Its nearest competitor, though not an EV, would be the Kia Carnival, which costs roughly Rs 64 lakh, and the Toyota Vellfire, which costs more and is powered by a hybrid drivetrain.

While there are no direct electric MPVs in this price range, the M9 will appeal to buyers searching for a spacious, chauffeur-driven EV with superior comfort.

It is expected to be launched sometime in June, and with its focus on comfort, tech, and space, it is designed to appeal to a niche set of buyers, i.e. the ones who value refinement and electric mobility in a full-size MPV format.
