MG Motor India had launched their luxury electric MPV, the MG M9, at the Auto Expo 2025. Pre-launch, the all-electric full-size MPV is now open for bookings with a token of Rs 51,000 via MG's premium 'Select' dealership network.
The MG M9 is not subtle, and it doesn't care. This MPV goes the full length at 5.2 metres, is 2 metres long, and 1.8 metres tall, with a very spacious 3.2-metre wheelbase. To put that into context, it dwarfs the Toyota Vellfire and Kia Carnival in terms of footprint.

Design-wise, the M9 adopts a squarish shape with upright proportions and plenty of chrome trimming. A full-width LED DRL at the front, joined LED tail lamps, big glasshouse, and a thick front grille contribute to road presence. The stance shouts luxury lounge on wheels, in an electric avatar.
Step inside, and the M9 is in full luxury mode. MG is offering the 7-seat option, which will have captain seats in the second row with ottoman-style leg rests. The spec list is extensive:
Dual-pane panoramic sunroofs
64-colour ambient lighting
Powered seats with heating, ventilation and massage functions
Rear entertainment screens
Powered rear-sliding doors
Wireless charging, premium materials, and acres of space
There is also a Level 2 ADAS suite, which adds active safety technologies such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, forward collision warning and so on.

The M9 is powered by a front-mounted electric motor that generates 245 PS and 350 Nm torque, supplied by a 90 kWh battery pack. MG is claiming a WLTP-certified range of 430 km, which should correspond to real-world numbers in the region of 350–380 km, respectable for an MPV of this size and weight in luxury form.

No fast charging options have been revealed so far, but we anticipate that MG will include AC and DC charging options with the vehicle.
MG has not yet announced the price, but we anticipate the M9 to be priced from about Rs 65 lakh (ex-showroom) and then onwards, based on variant and seating arrangement. The deliveries are expected to start soon after the announcement of the price, in June or so.

The M9 is going into a niche space that is currently ruled by the Toyota Vellfire and the Kia Carnival. The M9 is differentiated by the fact that it's all-electric; upon launch, it's going to be the country's first all-electric MPV to offer this amount of space, luxury, and technology.
The MG M9 appears to be a good bet for families or business customers seeking a green, premium, chauffeur-driven alternative. Although the pricing will tell how far it gets, MG's move into the luxury EV MPV sector is definitely a bold and welcome one.
