JSW MG Motor India has introduced its most luxurious product yet, the MG M9, a full-sized electric MPV priced at Rs 69.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Offered in a single ‘Presidential’ variant, this new flagship is positioned as a luxury people-mover, and will be sold through their premium outlet, called MG Select.
The M9 is based on the Maxus MIFA 9, an electric MPV that’s been on sale in several international markets. Its India debut brings MG into a niche segment that currently includes the Toyota Vellfire and Kia Carnival, but the M9 distinguishes itself by going all-electric, offering a clean and quiet alternative in the luxury MPV space.
Visually, the MG M9 is really huge. Its clean lines, upright stance, and minimalist front fascia give it a distinctive road presence. The large glasshouse, split LED DRLs, and wide rear light bar all contribute to a modern design without being over-styled. It’s more sedate than sporty, a conscious choice, given its intended clientele.

In terms of size, the M9 is nearly 5.3 metres long, with a wheelbase of over 3.2 metres, which translates into a genuinely spacious cabin. Unlike most MPVs that make compromises in the third row, the M9 offers adult-friendly seating across all three rows.
Step inside, and the focus is clearly on passenger comfort, especially for those in the middle row. The M9 offers six individual seats, with ottoman-style chairs in the second row that come with reclining, ventilation, heating, and massage functions. There are also individual infotainment screens, tray tables, and a centre aisle that gives easy access to the third row.

The overall design of the dashboard is clean and tech-forward. A triple-screen layout spans the dashboard, while features like ambient lighting, dual-pane sunroof, premium audio system, and multiple USB-C charging ports add to the sense of luxury. A Level 2 ADAS suite also comes as standard, offering features like adaptive cruise control, lane keeping, and emergency braking.
Powering the M9 is a 90 kWh battery paired to a single front-mounted motor delivering 245 PS and 350 Nm. MG claims a CLTC-certified range of 540 km, though in real-world conditions, a range of around 420–450 km would be more realistic.

Acceleration is respectable for its size, 0-100 kmph in under 9 seconds, but outright performance isn’t the focus here. The powertrain is tuned for smooth, effortless progress, and the absence of engine noise only adds to the peaceful experience inside the cabin.
The M9 supports up to 11 kW AC charging and up to 120 kW DC fast charging, allowing for a 30–80 percent top-up in under 40 minutes.

It’s built on a ground-up EV platform, which allows for a flat floor, better space management, and a more refined ride compared to ICE-based MPV conversions.
The MG M9 is not an MPV for the average buyer, and it doesn’t intend to be. It’s aimed at those who typically travel with a chauffeur, and want their vehicle to feel like an extension of a luxury lounge or business suite.

Whether it's industrialists looking for an eco-conscious fleet vehicle or hospitality brands aiming to elevate their guest experience, the M9 caters to a very specific but steadily growing segment.
At Rs 69.90 lakh, it sits below the Toyota Vellfire (Rs 1.20 crore) while offering a more tech-forward and spacious alternative. While it may not carry the same brand cachet just yet, it makes a strong case as a feature-rich, fully-electric alternative.

In that sense, the MG M9 brings something genuinely new to the table, a practical, spacious, and premium electric MPV that doesn’t shout for attention but instead focuses on creating a refined experience for those who prefer being driven.
