Latest teaser shows a new light blue paint shade and ‘Twin Peaks’ logo in copper.
Will be 200mm longer than the subcompact XUV300 with redesigned rear end.
Specs likely to be on par with the Tata Nexon EV with up to 450km of range on offer.
Prices should start at around Rs 15 lakh for the standard-range variant.
Mahindra has given us the first glimpse of the undisguised XUV400 electric SUV that’s set to break cover on September 8. The electric vehicle (EV) is a precursor to the XUV-branded EVs that are set to arrive in 2024; and similar to the upcoming EVs, wears the ‘Twin Peaks’ brand logo in copper, signifying its all-electric powertrain.

The XUV400 is derived from the ICE-powered XUV300 and has a longer length than the subcompact SUV. That, and a redesigned rear profile, should free up more boot space in the electric SUV.

In some of its details, the new XUV400 is distinct from the concept SUV showcased at Auto Expo 2020. It still has the X-pattern, closed-up front grille, but it has new copper-coloured elements within the grille and at the base of the front bumper. It also has L-shaped LED daytime running lights housed within the headlights.

We expect the Mahindra XUV400 to offer more than one powertrain (battery pack and e-motor) option similar to the Tata Nexon EV Prime and Nexon EV Max SUVs. The standard-range variant should be priced at around Rs 15 lakh.

The longer-range variant should offer around 450km of range and be priced at around Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).
