Mahindra XEV 9e Pack Two With 79 kWh Battery: The Most Senseworthy Variant To Pick!

Mahindra has introduced the Pack Two variant of the XEV 9e with the 79 kWh battery, priced at Rs 26.50 lakh (ex-showroom). This update makes the Pack Two the only variant in the lineup to have both battery options now. If you’re looking to save on your budget without losing out on range or performance, this variant is worth serious consideration. Let’s take a closer look at why it makes sense.

Money Matters!

Previously, the 79 kWh battery pack on the XEV 9e was only available with the top-spec Pack Three variant, which costs Rs 30.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Now, the Pack Two gets the same larger battery at about Rs 4 lakh less. Here’s what you get and what you give up with the Pack Two compared to the top trim.

It’s A Looker

In terms of styling, the Pack Two doesn’t feel like a downgrade. You still get LED DRLs connected by a light bar, the LED projector headlamps, cornering fog lamps, illuminated Mahindra logo, flush-type door handles, and 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels just as the higher-spec trims. In fact, it also gets all the colour options: Stealth Black, Deep Forest, Desert Myst, Tango Red, Everest White, Ruby Velvet and the Nebul Blue you see in the image.

Interior And Features

The cabin feels premium with its dual-tone grey and beige theme, soft-touch materials, and leatherette upholstery – the same layout you get in the Pack Three. A large glass panel on the dashboard houses three connected screens: one for the driver, one for the infotainment system, and one for the co-passenger. The 2-spoke steering wheel gets the new illuminated Mahindra logo with controls for audio, calling, and cruise control.

In terms of features, you get a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a fixed panoramic glass roof, dual-zone AC with rear vents, and a wireless phone charger. Safety is well-covered too, with 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, all-wheel disc brakes, and Level 2 ADAS features like lane-keep assist, forward collision warning, and adaptive cruise control.

What you miss are the dual wireless chargers, 360-degree camera, blind-view monitor, park assist, one-touch auto-down driver’s window, a few extra ADAS aids, and multi-colour ambient lighting. Most of these are nice-to-have rather than must-have features.

Powertrain

The XEV 9e comes with both 59 kWh and 79 kWh battery options. The Pack Two is now the entry-level variant for the larger 79 kWh unit, which means you get a claimed range of 656 km along with a motor producing 286 PS and 380 Nm. For your reference, the smaller unit gets 542 km of driving range with the motor giving out 231 PS and 380 Nm.

The features missing in the XEV 9e Pack Two are, for the most part, not major compromises. Things like a dual wireless charger or a few extra ADAS functions are simply add-ons over the equipment you already get in the Pack Two. That’s why, with the 79 kWh battery, this variant feels like the most well-rounded choice for most buyers. You save around Rs 4 lakh while gaining over 100 km of extra driving range – a big advantage if you go out on long family drives often. Unless you have your heart set on the extra few features of Pack Three, Pack Two makes far more sense.
