Royal Enfield’s new Himalayan 450 is a massive departure from the usual fare of classic motorcycles the company is known for. Building on the legacy of the legendary Himalayan 411, the Himalayan 450 is Royal Enfield’s first motorcycle with a liquid cooled motor - a 452cc single-cylinder engine making 40PS and 40Nm. Himalayan touts this new Himalayan as a bike built for all roads, and for no roads as well. So while we did enjoy the bike on its first ride in Manali, in this test, we put the Himalayan 450 through the ringer in the real world. We rode it extensively in the city, on the highway and even in the corners to see how well it holds up in everyday use. And to actually put it through a proper off-road test, we got a professional off-road rider and motocross champion, Yash Pawar, to show us just what the Himalayan 450 can do in the dirt.
