First Look Inside The 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC

The GLC follows in the design footsteps of Merc’s latest offerings and features the gigantic portrait-layout touchscreen infotainment system

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC has been spotted testing for the first time. While its exterior design – which is still under wraps – might be similar to the current GLC, the cabin of the upcoming BMW X3 and Audi Q5-rival has got a much-needed makeover. If these spy shots are anything to go by, the interior appears more sophisticated than that of its competitors.

If you have been inside the new S-Class or the C-Class, the GLC’s cabin will seem familiar. It gets the same digital driver’s display and portrait-layout MBUX touchscreen infotainment system with fingerprint authentication and connected car tech. While the remainder is under wraps, the GLC should also get unique AC vents and wood inserts.

Apart from the features and design elements mentioned above, the luxury SUV should get a Burmester sound system, ambient lighting, multiple-zone climate control, powered front seats with heating and ventilation, and a panoramic sunroof. In the safety department, it should get the latest Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) apart from the usual (read airbags, ESP, TPMS).

Underneath the hood, the GLC SUV could get multiple petrol, diesel, and even hybrid powertrain options. The AMG engines should be carried forward from the new C-Class, and that means we could see the 2-litre unit that’s under development for the new C63.

The new-gen GLC will debut in 2022 and is expected to be offered in India soon after its global unveiling. It will renew its rivalry with the BMW X3 and Audi Q5. Meanwhile, the all-electric EQC, based on the GLC, is also expected to get similar upgrades.
