Earlier, the Haojue HJ300 (made by Suzuki’s partner in China) made waves on the interwebs as it was thought to be replacing the ageing Suzuki GSX-S250 in the Asian market. Now, Suzuki seems to have gone back to basics with the planned launch of a quarter-litre twin-cylinder version of the GSX-S250, as per the leaked patent images.

As expected, the bike seems to be based on the Haojue HJ300’s platform. It packs a parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine, and a small radiator is visible as well. The engine sits inside a diamond-type frame which looks similar to its elder sibling. It also packs a premium-looking inverted front fork but the rear uses a traditional monoshock linked to a box-section swingarm, instead of the aluminium one in the Haojue HJ300. The bike also gets a butch dual exhaust like the India-spec Gixxer 250.

The bodywork is as aggressive as the HJ300 but it features a slightly stubbier tail section. Expect the bike to be packed with modern features such as an all-LED lighting system, a fully digital instrument cluster, perhaps with smartphone connectivity, and dual-channel ABS as standard.

Suzuki’s small-capacity portfolio in India is entirely made up of products specifically designed for our country, so the Japanese brand is unlikely to launch this motorcycle in India. That said, expect the upcoming twin-cylinder Suzuki GSX-S250 to be launched in select Asian markets apart from China.
