Ever since news of Royal Enfield filing a trademark for the Scram was leaked, rumours and speculations surrounding the bike didn’t cease until some images of the bike emerged. The bike seems close to production, and with RE’s promise to launch a new motorcycle every quarter, it won’t be long before the Scram makes its debut. Here’s what we can expect from the upcoming bike:
More Affordable Than The Himalayan
The frequent price hikes have now made the Royal Enfield Himalayan a pricey proposition. With the Scram, things could be slightly different. Given that the new bike will have newer, and no doubt simpler components, we expect the Royal Enfield Scram to be priced around Rs 1.9 lakh.
More Than Just An Affordable Himalayan
Though the Scram will share a lot of its components with the Himalayan, it will be a lot different than the ADV. The bike doesn’t feature the Himalayan’s trademark tank brace/luggage frame, with the headlight mounted onto the fork rather than fixed onto the frame assembly. This means it also doesn’t get the high-mounted fender or even a tail rack like the Himalayan. Furthermore, Royal Enfield has equipped the bike with a 19-inch wheel (instead of the Himalayan’s 21-inch unit). All this will make the bike considerably lighter, which will surely alter the handling on and off the tarmac.

Peppier Than The Himalayan
With less load to lug around, the 411cc undersquare engine is likely to feel a bit livelier. Though it is likely that the engine may continue to produce 24.31PS and 32Nm, Royal Enfield could work on this engine for better refinement levels.
More Open To Personalisation
Royal Enfield’s extensive Make-it-Yours customisation programme has given customers an option to personalise their bikes right from the factory. With the Scram, RE is likely to offer alloy wheels as an option, given that the 19-inch wheel front wheel is seen on the Meteor 350 and the Classic 350 as well. The clay model of the Scram also sported a simpler console with a Tripper navigation pod. RE may opt to keep the navigation pod as an optional extra to keep the cost of the stock bike down.
