Suzuki has been working on a new 250cc offering from quite some time now. There have been leaked images of the motorcycle clicked in the company’s factory, followed by patent images, giving an idea of how the production bike will look. Now, possibly the production-spec version of the motorcycle has been spied for the first time without any camouflage, bearing the ‘GSX-250R’ nameplate at the rear.

Looking at the spy images, one can very much relate the styling of the GSX-250R to Suzuki’s litre-class flagship model, the GSX-R1000. The motorcycle gets a fully faired body with sharp and well-sculpted panels. The GSX-250R gets a front bikini cowl with an arrow-like headlamp design. The sporty and chiselled tank followed by the edgy tail section complements the overall design of the motorcycle. The bike features raised clip-on handlebars, a fully digital instrument console, split-seat design, centre-set footpegs and a tall visor. Being a full-faired motorcycle, the GSX-250R, which is likely to be named as ‘Gixxer 250’ for the Indian market, should appeal to the young crowd.

Underneath the fairing, the GSX-250R is expected to be powered by a 250cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine. The motor is likely to produce power close to 25PS and will come mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Suspension duties for the motorcycle are taken care of by telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. For stopping power, the bike gets single disc brakes at both ends.

Suzuki is expected to officially unveil the GSX-250R at the upcoming INTERMOT or EICMA motorcycle show. After its launch in the international market, India launch could probably take place by 2017. In the Indian two-wheeler market, the Suzuki new 250cc offering will compete against the likes of the KTM RC200 and the Honda CBR250R.
