Mercedes-Benz India has announced that it will launch three new cars in India apart from the upcoming 2020 GLE. The three new models include the 2020 GLA, 2020 CLA, and the 2020 GLS SUV. These models will start arriving on our shores from Q2 2020 (April 1 onwards). Let’s have a look at the three models in detail, shall we?

2020 CLA:

The current CLA has been on sale for a while and is set to get its first generation change in India. The updated model will get a sharper styling, a modern interior, a longer list of features and BS6 compliant diesel and petrol powertrains. It could also feature the brilliant MBUX system that we first experienced in the updated GLC SUV. When launched, the 2020 CLA will lock horns with the Audi A3 and 2020 BMW 2 Series.

2020 GLA:

Mercedes is all set to launch the 2020 GLA later in the year. The 2020 GLA has grown up in size and looks sleeker as well. Inside, the dashboard features twin connected screens -- a digital driver’s display and the MBUX infotainment. Under the hood, the international-spec GLA comes with two petrol engine options. We expect the India-spec model to be offered with a diesel engine as well. Expect the 2020 GLA to cost more than the current model, which is priced from Rs 32.33 lakh (ex-showroom).

2020 GLS:

We must admit that the existing GLS SUV is getting a bit long in the tooth. Mercedes will soon update it by launching the 2020 iteration in India. The 2020 GLS features softer looks and packs more tech than before. Just like the current model, we expect the 2020 GLS to come with BS6-compliant 3.0-litre petrol and diesel engine options. Considering the extent of updates, expect the upcoming SUV to be priced from Rs 1 crore this time around. When launched, it’ll lock horns with the BMW X7 and upcoming Audi Q8.

Mercedes-Benz has also announced that it was the top luxury carmaker in terms of sales in the country for the fifth consecutive year. It sold a staggering 13,786 units in 2019. Further, it’ll introduce its all-electric EQ division in India. Which of these new Mercedes-Benz cars are you waiting for? Let us know in the comments section below.
