Delhi Transport Ties Up With Okinawa For Green Mobility

Delhi is no stranger to the concept of electric vehicles as there are a number of e-rickshaws already plying on the roads in and around NCR. Against the backdrop of the ever worsening menace of pollution, Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) has now tied up with electric scooter manufacturer Okinawa. In a bid to spread awareness about green mobility and encourage the use of electric vehicles, the electric scooter manufacturer will launch an awareness campaign for DTC’s employees.

As a part of the campaign that will run till September, the e-vehicle company will also be displaying its scooters across 45 DTC depots. The campaign will help Okinawa garner sales while promoting the idea of eco-friendly transportation in a city that’s marred by alarming levels of pollution. DTC is also in talks with the brand for a mandate to facilitate green transportation for its staff’s internal commuting. Priced at Rs 59,889 (ex-showroom Delhi), the Praise is Okinawa’s flagship product which has a range of 78-110km range as tested. To read the detailed review of the Praise, click here. New Delhi, July 23, 2018: As the menace of pollution again rears its head in the capital, the city’s trusted public transportation system, Delhi Transport Corporation has joined hands with Okinawa Scooters to spread awareness about ‘Green Mobility.’ In its role, Okinawa Scooters, India’s fastest growing electric two-wheeler manufacturing company, will promote e-vehicle culture among DTC’s employees and encourage them to use electric vehicles by hosting an awareness campaign across all DTC depots. It will also showcase its e-vehicle product offerings across 45 depots of DTC in Delhi. This activities will be completed by September 2018.

Speaking about the association, DTC Managing Director (IAS) – Mr. Manoj Kumar,“ The concern for environmental well-being has become paramount in India and for the first time, we have seen governments, both central and state, taking an active and urgent part in improving the deteriorating condition of the nature around us. DTC has also decided to play its role in helping the capital become a cleaner and greener place by associating with Okinawa Scooters and giving it a mandate to facilitate green transportation for DTC staff’s internal commuting purposes.”
