Bookings for the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza commence

The much-awaited Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza that created a lot of buzz at the 2016 Auto Expo is now open for bookings. The sub-4 metre SUV is Maruti Suzuki’s first such offering in India and the car has been developed from the ground up.

Widespread reports are citing dealers (in Bengaluru) who have revealed a Rs 10,000 down payment for booking the Vitara Brezza. The booking amount is also reportedly refundable if a customer chooses to back out of their decision after paying the booking amount. The SUV is expected to be priced between Rs 5.5 lakh to Rs 8 lakh and the delivery could begin by March this year.

The booking amount is refundable

The Vitara Brezza is Maruti’s first offering to be conceived, designed, developed and validated in India by Maruti's R&D team, led by Chief Engineer CV Raman. The car is initially speculated to come with a diesel mill under the hood in the form of the renowned 1.3-litre unit sourced from Fiat. This engine is good for 90PS and 200Nm and would come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.

With a wheelbase of 2500mm, and ground clearance of 198mm, the Vitara Brezza will offer 328 litres of boot space. Apart from a youthful appeal and sporty design, the Vitara Brezza will come heavily loaded with features including projector type headlamp with Daytime Running Lamps, skid plates up front, a floating roof design and roof coloured ORVMs.

The car is built ground up

In terms of safety, all variants will come with ABS and EBD as standard. For the sake of convenience, Maruti Suzuki has also fitted the Vitara Brezza with a reversing camera with parking sensors, keyless entry, automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers and more.

The third car to be sold via their new range of Nexa dealerships, the Vitara Brezza will be launched in 6 variants –  LDi, LDi (O), VDi, VDi (O), ZDi, and ZDi+. Once launched, the car will fight it out with cars like the Ford EcoSport and the Mahindra TUV300 for supremacy in this segment.
