Honda has revealed an updated version of the City sedan in Brazil, which could be headed to India sometime in 2025. The City sedan has remained one of the strongest contenders from the Japanese automaker, and this update seems essential to keep it competitive in a market that’s increasingly leaning toward SUVs. The international-spec model gives us a glimpse of a few new things we might see when the car launches in India.
So in this story, we take a look at the 5 noticeable changes that the Brazil-spec Honda City has received over the India-spec model:
The Brazilian City brings modest cosmetic tweaks, and it closely resembles the Indian version with very similar elements like 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, LED head and tail lights, and front bumper. Following the facelift trend, the most notable change is in the fascia, which now features a larger grille with horizontal slats.
The international variant of the Honda City also features a white and black themed cabin extending to its leatherette upholstery unlike the Indian model which sports a beige theme inside. Upon its India launch, this should possibly be added here as an update too or maybe as an option alongside the existing theme.
The current India-spec Honda City offers automatic climate control, while the Brazilian model sports an upgraded dual-zone climate control system. This enhancement should be a tempting addition, elevating the premium feel in the feature set of the Honda sedan.
The new 2025 Honda City will receive an updated safety suite, including an electronic parking brake, as seen in the Brazilian model, along with an auto hold function. While not available in the ICE-powered Honda City, the City Hybrid does get this feature in India.
While this is not necessarily an update, the international model has the wireless phone charger now located behind the gear lever making it more easily accessible for front as well as rear occupants.
Aside from these reworked features, the Brazil-spec Honda City continues to get the same 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, producing 121 PS and 145 Nm of torque, paired with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT transmission.
In India, the Honda City also offers a hybrid powertrain – a feature not included in the Brazilian model. We expect the City Hybrid to get a similar treatment as the changes on this 2025 model when launched in India.
The current Honda City on sale in India is priced between Rs 11.82 lakh and Rs 16.35 lakh (ex-showroom) which might see a slight premium in its newer 2025 version. It will remain a strong competitor against the Hyundai Verna, Skoda Slavia, Volkswagen Virtus, and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
