2022 could have existing models get more kit than before

The sub-4 metre SUV segment has recently exploded onto the scene, and how! With offerings from multiple carmakers coming our way in 2022, prospective buyers are spoilt for choice, really. While this year, we may not get brand new models, we’re certainly up for more appealing iterations of existing models.

Here’s us taking a look at them:

2022 Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza

Expected Launch: Mid-2022

Expected Price: Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards

Sitting atop the sub-4 metre ranks, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza is awaiting a new iteration. It has already been spotted, and it looks more modern than before. It’ll also get more features, including a single-pane sunroof, a larger touchscreen, and an updated instrument cluster. What may not change, though, is the 105PS 1.5-litre petrol engine with a mild-hybrid system.

Facelifted Hyundai Venue

Expected Launch: August

Expected Price: Rs 7 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards

The Hyundai Venue, on sale since May 2019, will get its first midlife refresh in 2022. Recent spy images suggest the changes will be extensive, including a new front grille, an updated alloy wheel design, and redesigned tail lamps. Expect more features such as a digital driver display, a larger touchscreen infotainment system, and ventilated front seats.

The Venue could retain its 1.2-litre petrol, 1-litre turbo-petrol, and 1.5-litre diesel engines, but we may have a new 'N Line' trim and a 6-speed torque converter option with the diesel engine.

Mahindra XUV300 Electric

Expected Launch: Q2 2022

Expected Price: Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards

It was at the 2020 Auto Expo when we had first got a glimpse of what an electric Mahindra XUV300 could look like. While the model showcased won't be the final product, we noticed the difference in design compared to the ICE car.

The XUV300 Electric could go up to 300km on a single charge. It’ll be one of Mahindra's first all-electric offerings meant to take on the Tata Nexon EV in the mass-market EV space.
