Electric two-wheeler maker Komaki has launched a new electric scooter, the XGT X5, which it claims is designed for the elderly and specially abled. Komaki offers the XGT X5 in two battery options: VRLA and Li ion, priced at Rs 72,500 and Rs 90,500 respectively (both prices ex-showroom).

So what makes the XGT X5 elderly friendly? Komaki has added a third wheel to the scooter. It is sort of like the stabiliser wheel that your first bicycle had when you started learning how to ride. Aside from the extra wheel, there’s no real difference in the scootering sense.
It is of the low-speed variety, which doesn’t necessitate a driver’s license. The claimed range is 80-90km for either battery option. Considering the intended purpose, the range is enough. However, details regarding the charging times, battery costs and other such purchasing factors are yet to be revealed.
