2026 Tata Aeris Launched At Rs 5.29 Lakh: Fresh Looks, More Features & A Familiar Engine

Tata has pulled the wraps off the new Aeris sub-compact sedan at a starting price of Rs 5.29 lakh (ex-showroom). The new Aeris is the Tiago-based compact sedan which replaced the outgoing Tata Tigor. With more features, edgy styling and minimalistic interiors, does it feel modern and new enough? Let's explore:

2026 Tata Aeris: Price

All prices are ex-showroom 

The base Aeris Smart is priced at Rs 5.29 lakh and the range goes up to Rs 9.74 lakh ex-showroom for the CNG AMT variant.

The Smart variant does not get AMG gearbox options, while every other variant combination gets the flexibility of choosing the AMT.

Interestingly, every variant apart from the base Smart variant is available with every powertrain option. 

2026 Tata Aeris: Exterior

The Aeris takes a modern and minimalistic styling approach like the Tiago facelift. The fascia carries an edgy styling thanks to the slim LED headlamps, which are connected with a black trim in the centre. Lower down, the bumper also looks simplistic with a neatly executed lower air dam and LED fog lamps on either side. Notice, the bumper also gets air curtains on either corner to aid better aero efficiency.

Over to the side, the Aeris carries a similar silhouette to the outgoing Tigor. The coupe-like roofline at the rear gives the Aeris a sporty look. Meanwhile, the front half resembles the Tiago.

What also gives the Aeris a subtle sporty look is the black cladding on the wheel arches.

Over to the rear, the compact sedan now gets a connected LED tail lamp. Unlike the front and side, the rear carries more curves thanks to the subtle lip spoiler on the bootlid and the sculpted bumper lower down. While the wide, higher brake lamp is carried over from the Tigor, the Aeris gets a new shark fin antenna. 

The Aeris comes in six colour options: Dandeli Drizzle, Nitro Crimson, Dune Glow, Daytona Grey, Pure Grey and Pristine White.

2026 Tata Aeris: Interior

Expectedly, the Aeris’ cabin is similar to the new Tiago. The minimalist theme is carried over here as well. The layered dashboard carries a floating 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, while the driver gets one for themself as well. Unlike in typical Tata fashion, we see more matte-finished plastics as opposed to piano black finishes in the interior. 

The overall brown and beige theme gives the Aeris an airy feel inside due to the use of the brighter colours.

Space and practicality, though not the segment best, are respectable and can comfortably carry four passengers, but the fifth will need to squeeze in a little bit. 

2026 Tata Aeris: Features And Safety

The Aeris comes with a decently strong feature list, including a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. This also comes paired with a 6-speaker sound system. Meanwhile, the driver also gets a split digital information display. 

Other feature highlights include connected car technology, auto headlamps, auto climate control, passive keyless entry with push-button start, ventilated front seats, cruise control, wireless chargers and USB-C fast charging.

The safety kit includes 6 airbags, a 360-degree camera, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), ISOFIX child seat mounts, ABS with EBD, rear camera, parking sensors and rain-sensing wipers. 

The Aeris also gets the new dashcam feature, which is integrated with the 360-degree camera system. 

2026 Tata Aeris: Powertrain Options

The Aeris gets the tried-and-tested 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with CNG. Powertrain details are as follows:

The Aeris also comes with the dual-cylinder setup like other Tata cars, which helps to free up some usable boot space. 

Meanwhile, the engine is reasonably peppy and gets most of the daily driving needs done. Though it is not a benchmark setter in any form, it has proven itself over time to be a reasonably reliable powertrain. 

Tata has introduced paddle shifters to the AMT powertrain, now making it more accessible to manually operate the gears. 

2026 Tata Aeris: Rivals

The 2026 Tata Aeris goes against compact sedan rivals like the Hyundai Aura, Maruti Dzire, and the Honda Amaze.

Tata’s compact sedan has never seen major success due to the rise in demand for SUV body styles. However, it still holds an important place in the sedan segment for those who are looking to get a hatchback but with more boot space. 

The sedans of this class are also practical and frugal, which makes them popular among fleet operators.
