The Hyundai Verna gets a new variant for the NA petrol lineup, called the SX Plus. It is priced from Rs 13.79 lakh (ex-showroom), and is available with both manual and automatic options of the entry-level petrol engine. Moreover, it also makes multiple features more accessible.
Hyundai has introduced wired-to-wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay adapter in the Grand i10 Nios, Exter, Aura, Verna, Venue and Alcazar. With this, you won’t have to depend on aftermarket sources for getting wireless connectivity.
Here’s an overview of the updates:
The Verna SX Plus is basically a new variant that slots in between the SX and SX (O) variants. Here’s how it is priced:
Transmission |

SX Plus |

Rs 13.15 lakh |
Rs 13.79 lakh |
+Rs 64,000 |
Automatic |
Rs 14.40 lakh |
Rs 15.04 lakh |
+Rs 64,000 |
As seen in the table above, there is a premium of Rs 64,000 over the variant it is based on.
The Hyundai Verna SX Plus becomes the entry point to features like heated and ventilated front seats, an 8-speaker Bose sound system and leatherette seat upholstery. Other than the premium features, amenities like an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment, a sunroof, auto AC with rear vents, a cooled glovebox, a wireless phone charger, ambient lighting and cruise control are also offered.
Safety is taken care of by 6 airbags, front and rear parking sensors, hill start assist, a rear parking camera, an electronic parking brake and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
The engine option offered with the variant is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, which makes 115 PS and 144 Nm. The engine can be opted for with both a 6-speed manual and a CVT gearbox.
The new variant misses out on the 160 PS 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine that is offered with either a 6-speed MT or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT).
The Hyundai Verna is priced between Rs 13.08 lakh to Rs 20.62 lakh (ex-showroom). The Verna rivals the Volkswagen Virtus, Honda City and the Skoda Slavia.
The Hyundai Verna is already a value-for-money sedan, and offering more features at an affordable price further increases its value proposition. Over the SX variant, most buyers won’t mind paying the extra buck for the package they are getting. Would you pick the Verna over its rivals? Let us know in the comments section.
