The Sierra EV is almost here, and it seems to have the off-road chops too!

Tata Sierra EV

Tata Motors, in its latest teaser, has revealed the new Sierra EV a week ahead of its debut. While the previous such reveals by the carmaker have shown minor details, we now know how the electric SUV looks on the road. Let’s take a look at it in detail:

2026 Tata Sierra EV: What Does The Teaser Show?

The short video released by Tata Motors today gives us a detailed glimpse into the design aspect of the Sierra EV, building upon what was shown the last time. Starting from the front-end, it gets a slightly different fascia compared to the ICE-powered Sierra, with a blanked-off grille area.

However, the bumper looks similar to its petrol and diesel-powered sibling with gloss black cladding, sleek LED headlamps and foglamps and a chunky silver skid plate. You also have a connected LED DRL setup on top to add drama to the package.

The teaser shows that the side profile retains the retro-cool boxy styling with flush-fit door handles, gloss black cladding, ORVMs with turn-indicators and the black insert above the rear door to mimic the curved windows of the original Sierra.

The only way to distinguish the EV here is the ‘Tata.ev’ badge on the front door, and the slightly different design for the 19-inch alloy wheels with aero inserts specific to the EV.

We already know that the rear-end looks identical to the ICE-powered Sierra with its flat profile, connected LED taillamp setup, gloss black bumper cladding and a silver skid plate.

Feature-wise, this video confirms the presence of a 360-degree camera setup, Level 2 ADAS and front parking sensors as well.

2026 Tata Sierra EV: Overview

Sitting in between the Curvv EV and Harrier EV, the Sierra EV will plug a major gap in Tata’s electric portfolio. Besides the retro-themes design, it is expected to feature a similar interior as the ICE-powered car with a three-screen setup, gloss black illuminated steering wheel and a large and spacious cabin.

Its feature-list is likely to include a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch passenger entertainment screen, panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated front seats, wireless phone chargers, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, dual-zone climate control, powered tailgate, heads-up display and a premium audio system.

In terms of safety, we know that it will be offered with a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors and a Level 2 ADAS suite. Besides this, it could also feature 6 airbags, electronic stability control, electronic parking brake with auto-hold, all-wheel disc brakes and hill hold assist.

The Sierra EV is expected to be powered by multiple battery pack options. While the lower variants could get a rear-wheel drive setup, the top-spec SUV will feature a dual-motor all-wheel drive powertrain (which Tata calls QWD). Expect the claimed range figures to be in the vicinity of 500 kms.

2026 Tata Sierra EV: Launch Date, Expected Price And Rivals

Tata Motors will debut the Sierra EV on June 30, with a launch expected next month. It is expected to be priced from Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom) when it goes on sale.

The electric SUV will compete with cars like the Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV, Vinfast VF7, Mahindra BE 6, Maruti e Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella. It will also go head on with its own sibling, the Tata Curvv EV

ZigSays…

The Sierra EV is an important model for Tata Motors, and will go a long way in boosting its volumes as well as helping build upon its brand image. So far, with its retro-cool looks, an expected long list of features and AWD capabilities, the SUV is shaping up to be quite the competitor in the compact electric SUV space. However, the carmaker still needs to ensure that it gets pricing right and that its reliability quotient improves if it wants the SUV to succeed long term.
