Both cars get dual function LED projector headlights with LED fog lamps

While luxury and premium vehicles have moved on to clever adaptive LED headlights, LED projector headlights are rather accessible now as the tech has trickled down to the mass market cars we use on a daily basis. While they are notorious for blinding people ahead and oncoming traffic in equal parts, some questions have also been raised regarding their true performance in complete darkness.

We took one of the latest SUVs on the block, the Mahindra XUV 3XO and compared its headlight performance with one of the most popular SUVs in India, the Tata Nexon. Place your bets before watching this reel below!

As you can see, both cars are very close in terms of their headlight performance. But it feels like the throw from the XUV 3XO’s headlights stretches just slightly ahead, compared to the Nexon’s throw. The slightly better range and even the better intensity is down to the Mahindra’s more powerful fog lamps. But it has to be said, the difference isn’t night and day, and will likely be hardly noticeable in the real world.

What will be visible, though, are the sequential turn indicators that the Nexon offers. It even gets a cool ‘welcome’ and ‘goodbye’ animation sequence, which is unique to it in the entire sub-4m SUV segment. That said, it’s just for show and does not add functional benefits.
