Nissan has revealed the name of its upcoming 7-seater MPV today, gearing up for the family car market once again in India. Nissan’s new MPV, named Nissan Gravite, will compete in the people-mover segment and will be placed below the brand’s future compact SUV lineup because of its focus on providing customers with greater flexibility and affordability.
The new Nissan Gravite is expected to be based on the same CMF-A+ platform that underpins the Renault Triber. However, the Japanese manufacturer has taken every effort to differentiate itself in terms of design. The design takes on a larger V-motion grille, typical for all Nissan models, accompanied by restyled headlights and an upright design on the bumpers. The Nissan MPV sports compact dimensions that would make it perfect for city driving.

The rear design takes on subtle updates to distinguish it from its Renault counterpart with a reworked bumper and taillamp detailing.
Inside, the Gravite sensibly retains the three-row configuration, and is likely to also draw inspiration for the interior design from the Triber, albeit with different colour schemes and upholstery for the seats. It could also get removable third-row seats for added flexibility.
At the heart of the Gravite could be a 1-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 72 PS and 96 Nm. This engine has been used in the brand’s other offerings, like the Nissan Magnite and the Renault Triber.

The transmission choices are likely to include a 5-speed manual transmission and a 5-speed AMT transmission system.
Nissan is likely to price the Gravite very competitively, and the range could go from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom). The MPV will go head-to-head in the competition with the likes of Renault Triber and will be cheaper than the Maruti Ertiga and Toyota Rumion.

Nissan's new 7-seater MPV isn't trying to break new ground in its segment, and this could be a major advantage for them. Nissan is clearly trying their best by offering a robust platform, flexible seating arrangements, the latest necessities, and a competitive price tag that lures first-time and young parents into purchasing their new MPV offering.
But what we would like to know is if you would sacrifice affordability and space for better performance, or if you require more power in a family MPV car? Let us know in the comments.
