Nissan MPV

After a long time, Nissan is all set to introduce a budget offering in India, this time in the form of a 7-seat MPV. The Japanese carmaker has announced that it will take the wraps off its latest product later this month, which is expected to give a major boost to its fledgling sales. Here is all we know about this new MPV:

2026 Nissan MPV: Exterior

Based on what we know till now, this new MPV will share its platform with the Renault Triber, although it will be heavily restyled. From the teaser shown till now, we can see that it will get a large ‘V-shaped’ grille at the front, inspired by models like the X-trail. It will also get a different bumper with sharp and boxy cuts on either side to give it better road presence.

We can also see that it will get proper roof rails, which will be more prominent than those on the Triber. It could also get diamond-cut alloy wheels as well as a heavily reworked rear styling, too, although the basic silhouette could stay similar to its Renault counterpart.

2026 Nissan MPV: Interior And Features

Inside, Nissan’s new MPV will feature a flexible 7-seater layout with a removable third row as well. It could also get an all-new dashboard design along with different colours for the cabin.

In terms of features, it could get a digital instrument cluster, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto andApple CarPlay, ambient lighting, LED headlamps and taillamps and rear AC vents. Safety-wise, it is expected to remain identical to the Triber, which offers 6 airbags, electronic stability control, traction control, hill hold assist, rear parking camera and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

2026 Nissan MPV: Powertrain

Under the hood, the new Nissan MPV is likely to be powered by the same 1-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine also offered with the Magnite. This unit produces 72 PS and 96 Nm and comes paired to a choice of 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT transmission options. Here are the detailed specifications for this powertrain:

Engine

1-litre naturally aspirated petrol

Transmission

5-speed manual/5-speed AMT

Power (PS)

72 PS

Torque (Nm)

96 Nm

Furthermore, Nissan’s 1-litre turbo-petrol engine is unlikely to make it to this new MPV.

2026 Nissan MPV: Launch Date, Price And Rivals

Nissan will be unveiling its new MPV on December 18, and while launch details are yet to be confirmed, it is likely to make its way to the market in early 2026. In terms of pricing, it could sit in the range of Rs 6 lakh to Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom).

When it goes on sale, it will go up against its own sibling, the Renault Triber, the Maruti Ertiga and the Toyota Rumion.

ZigSays…

Nissan’s fortunes in India certainly need a revival, and this new MPV will do well to carry on the momentum for some time before the next generation of products for the carmaker start to arrive. That said, we wish Nissan would ultimately offer it with a turbo-petrol powertrain as well, considering the naturally-aspirated engine feels a bit underpowered in the Triber, especially with 7 adults on board.
