Piaggio India has completed 25 years in the country, and to commemorate this occasion has announced a slew of announcements pertaining to its Aprilia and Vespa brands. To begin with, Aprilia and Vespa scooters will get Piaggio’s revamped i-get engine, which will make them OBD-II compliant.
The engine with the new Italian Green Experience Technology (i-get), it is claimed, will offer improved acceleration. Additionally, the Aprilia Typhoon moniker is all set to join the current SR range of scooters. Currently, the brand retails the Typhoon 50 internationally, which is a 50cc scooter sporting a similar aesthetic to the SR series.
However, for India, we expect the Typhoon to be available with a 125cc mill, and be positioned as an accessible option to the SR 125 range which could offer the same performance while being more affordable. In addition to revamping its scooter lineup, Aprilia is also working on a new motorcycle for India, details of which are mentioned here.
Piaggio India will also be refreshing its Vespa lineup by launching a new Vespa edition which will be aimed at younger audiences and will get dual-tone shades. An all-new Touring edition of the Vespa, which we expect will be decked with a range of touring accessories like a windshield, and saddle bags, is also in the works. Could this be the GTS 300 that was recently spied on test? It would definitely make for an interesting proposition.
While Vespa recently decked the SXL range with new colourways, the brand will also update the VXL and ZX range of scooters with new colours in India.
