Even though the year is coming to an end, Mahindra does not want the action to stop. And in-keeping with this sentiment, the carmaker will be launching its first new product for 2026, the XUV 7XO, on January 5, 2026. While Mahindra has dropped a few teasers, we now have our hands on some detailed spyshots, which confirm a lot of changes for the SUV. Let’s take a look at what we can see:
Starting from the exterior, at the front, we can now see new headlamp clusters with a more rounded off design, along with projector LED headlamps and foglamps and a new radiator grille. We can also see a redesigned front bumper, which could potentially get a tougher-looking and larger faux skid plate.

Move on to the side profile however, and you can see that the XUV 7XO carries a similar silhouette to the XUV700, with muscular haunches, flush door handles and roof rails. That said, it will get a new design for the 18-inch alloy wheels, which has been confirmed in the teasers released so far.

As for the rear-end styling of the XUV 7XO, it will borrow a lot of elements from the all-electric XEV 9S, which includes a reworked taillamp cluster with honeycomb detailing and a black casing. The spyshots also show a redesigned bumper with chunkier proportions too.

Inside the XUV 7XO, we see a new two-spoke steering wheel and a new dashboard layout with three 12.3-inch displays for the digital instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment system and the passenger entertainment display as well, just like those found on the XEV 9S and XEV 9e. Besides this however, we can now confirm from the spyshots that it will get a three-tone black-brown-beige cabin theme.

Notably, the test mule in the spyshots gets a 7-seater layout, although Mahindra is likely to offer a a 6-seater captain seat version as well, just like it does in the XUV700.

In terms of features, we can now confirm more equipment such as a wireless charger, powered co-driver seat and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system as well, in addition to the electric ‘Boss mode’ and three-screen layout which was confirmed in the teasers before. Besides this, it is also likely to feature a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front and rear seats, multi-colour ambient lighting, AR-based heads-up display and a powered tailgate, all of which are also offered on the XEV 9S.

Safety-wise it is likely to be equipped with 7 airbags, Level-2 ADAS, electronic parking brake with auto-hold, electronic stability control, traction control, 540-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors and hill hold assist.
Under the hood, the Mahindra XUV 7XO is likely to remain identical to the XUV700, which gets powered by a choice of 2-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engine options, both of which are available with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission options. Here are the specifications of these powertrains in the XUV700:

While the launch date of the XUV 7XO is not known yet, Mahindra will launch it on January 5, 2026 along with a lot more details about the same. We expect Mahindra to price the XUV 7XO in the range of Rs 15 lakh to Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom).

Pre-bookings for the SUV are already underway and interested customers can reserve their car for a booking amount of Rs 21,000 via their preferred dealership or Mahindra’s website. When on sale, the XUV 7XO will go up against other midsize SUVs such as the Tata Harrier and Safari, MG Hector and Hector Plus, Jeep Compass and Hyundai Alcazar.
The XUV 7XO is shaping up to be quite the competitor for its segment, and we are sure Mahindra is looking forward to setting the cat amongst the pigeons. That said, we look forward to its unveiling next month for more details on the same.
What do you think of the new XUV 7XO? Will it be able to replicate the success of the XUV700? Let us know in the comments.
