After spy shots surfaced online and details of the bikes were revealed, Kawasaki has now finally launched the Ninja e-1 and Ninja Z e-1 electric motorcycles in the US market.
The Kawasaki Ninja e-1 and Ninja Z e-1 look very similar to their ICE-powered siblings. The Ninja e-1 gets the similar aggressive fairing design of the Ninja 400. The Z e-1 borrows its design cues from the Z 400 and gets the similar headlight and overall design language.
Both motorcycles get a 5kW motor with a peak power output of 9kW and a pair of 1.5kWh capacity lithium-ion batteries with a maximum top speed of 101kmph in road mode with the e-boost feature and a maximum range of 65km in road mode. Both take 3.7 hours to fully charge each battery. Suspension duties are taken care of by a 41mm telescopic fork and a gas-charged monoshock while braking duties are taken care of by a single 290mm disc at the front and a single 220mm disc at the rear (both with dual-piston calipers).
Features-wise, both bikes get a 4.3-inch TFT instrument console with smartphone connectivity, two riding modes (Eco and Road), walk mode and reverse mode. The Kawasaki Ninja e-1 and Ninja Z e-1 cost USD 7,599 (about Rs 6.32 lakh) and USD 7,299 (about Rs 6.07 lakh) respectively. These things said both bikes are not expected to be coming to our shores soon though.
