Maruti has launched the new Dzire in as many as four different variants, 7 colour options and few powertrain options to choose from. In this report, we will be taking you through the design, interior, features and powertrain of the new Dzire’s base-spec Lxi variant using 10 images. So if you are in the market looking for an entry-level sedan at an affordable price, you have come to the right place!
Before starting, it is important to know that the base-spec Lxi is available with a single powertrain option and is priced at Rs 6.79 lakh (ex-showroom).

Up front, the Dzire Lxi comes with the new wide grille, but misses out on the chrome strip positioned above the grille on higher-spec variants. You get projector halogen headlamps but the sleek LED DRLs and LED headlamps are a miss here. You also do not get the LED fog lamps which are restricted to the top-spec variant.

In profile, you get 14-inch steel wheels without a cover. The ORVMs and door handles are not body coloured and the turn indicator is placed on the front fender. Higher-spec variants also get a chrome finish running across the window line.

Coming to the rear, you get the newly designed LED tail lights and a shark fin antenna right from the base variant itself. The integrated lip spoiler is also available with the base variant but you miss out on the chrome strip that connects the tail lights on higher-spec variants.

The interior of the base-spec Dzire comes in a dualtone black and beige theme and this interior colour combination is standard across all variants of the Dzire. However, the base-spec variant misses out on the chrome and silver inserts, as well as the wooden finish that is offered as you go higher in the Dzire’s variant lineup. A music system, rear AC vents and adjustable rear headrests and rear armrest are also a miss in the cabin of this specific variant.

In terms of features, it comes equipped with all four power windows, manual AC, adjustable front headrests, keyless entry, and tilt steering.

Its safety kit packs 6 airbags (standard), reverse parking sensors ABS with EBD, ESC, hill hold assist, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and a rear defogger. Higher-spec variants also get a 360-degree camera and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).

The base-spec Dzire is powered by the new Z-series 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine which makes 82 PS and 112 Nm. It is available only with the 5-speed manual transmission. From the next variant onwards, you also get the option of an AMT gearbox. The Lxi variant misses out on the CNG option as well which is available with the mid-spec variants.

The Maruti Dzire’s prices range from Rs 6.79 lakh to Rs 10.14 lakh (ex-showroom). It competes with entry-level sedans like the Honda Amaze, Hyundai Aura and the Tata Tigor.
