The CFMoto CL-X Sport has the looks and the kit to make the big players sweat

The CFMoto CL-X Sport has finally made it to the European market, eight months after its sibling, the CL-X Heritage debuted. With two of the three motorcycles from the Chinese brand’s 700cc CL-X range on sale, established players in Europe face a serious threat.

The CL-X Sport, as the name suggests, is a sporty alternative to the roadster. While bits like the headlight, taillight, and fenders remain unchanged, CFMoto has given some unique touches to the bike to ascertain its sporty intent. For starters, instead of the traditional handlebar, the bike features lowered clip-ons, complemented by bar-end mirrors. Even the five-spoke alloy wheels are unique to the Sport variant.

Furthermore CFMoto has even given the cafe racer a different styling for the subframe. This bike gets a small, flat seat with a cowl instead of a pillion seat. This panel along with the front of the tank are given a carbon fibre finish.

The CFMoto CL-X Sport shares the 693cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine producing 74.7PS at 8500rpm and 68Nm at 6500rpm with the Heritage model. This engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox aided by a slipper clutch. CFMoto hasn’t skimped on electronics either. The Sport features two riding modes, cruise control, an adaptive headlight and self-canceling indicators. It features the same single-pod LCD instrument console. Interestingly, this bike weighs 9kg more than the Heritage.

The CL-X Sport flaunts impressive hardware too. It features a 41mm KYB USD offering preload adjustability along with compression (left fork) and rebound (right fork). At the rear, an adjustable link-type monoshock handles the suspension duties. Braking is entrusted to dual discs up front and a single disc at the rear with premium Brembo Stylema calipers at both ends.

The CFMoto CL-X Sport has been priced at EUR 6,999 which translates to Rs 5.92 lakh, making it Rs 50,000 more expensive than the Heritage model. While the chances of this bike coming to India are pretty bleak at the moment, you have some interesting neo-retro motorcycles available in our market, like the Kawasaki Z650RS and the Honda CB650R. But if you are looking for an affordable cafe racer, the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 remains your only choice.
