Quick Read:
Remains mechanically unchanged from its predecessor, the Magnus Neo
Gets a new LCD instrument console, which looks much better
It is priced at Rs 89,999 (ex-showroom)
Ampere has launched the Magnus Grand electric scooter, and it is based on the Magnus Neo, but with a few tricks up its sleeve. The scooter features more features, new colours, while commanding a slight premium.
Comes in two new colour schemes: Ocean Blue and Matcha Green
Gets a different-looking pillion grabrail over the previous flatter one
The seat cover is quilted and looks premium
While the overall scooter is the same, the Magnus Grand gets new colour schemes and among the two, it is the Ocean Blue that really caught our attention. Adding to the aesthetics is a new brown, quilted seat cover. Apart from the colours, the Magnus Grand also gets a revised pillion grabrail over the Neo’s flatter one. That said, we would’ve liked it if Ampere had revised the looks of the scooter and made some changes on the bodywork apart just some colour updates.

Gets a 2.3kWh LFP battery with a claimed real-world range of 85-90km
Makes 2.4kW of peak power with a claimed top speed of 65kmph
Rides on 12-inch steel wheels at both ends with drum brakes
Gets a telescopic fork and dual-shock absorbers
Underseat storage is 22 litres
Has a ground clearance of 165mm and weighs 108kg
All the above specs are the same as its sibling, the Magnus Neo
While the claimed range should be enough for the average Joe, we would have appreciated it if it came with a larger battery pack or a more powerful motor with increased performance, considering its rivals offer much more in every aspect.

Gets a new LCD instrument console
Connectivity features are optional
Has an LED headlight and LED indicators, while the taillight remains a halogen unit
Gets two ride modes: Eco and City
Has a dedicated reverse mode
Comes with a USB charging port as well
The new LCD instrument console looks much better than the small horizontal LCD screen in the Neo. The console seems much easier to read with a clear layout, and should improve the overall riding experience. The Magnus won't be leading the charts when it comes to the sheer amount of features, but it has you covered on all the basics.

The Magnus has always been a no-nonsense electric commuter scooter with a decent claimed range and performance just about enough for city riding. The Grand variant just ups the ante when it comes to a premium-feeling yet affordable electric scooter.
With a price tag of Rs 89,999 (ex-showroom), the Magnus is priced decently. But it’s 2025, and you can get your hands on the Vida VX2 and Ather Rizta at a more affordable price tag (thanks to BaaS - Battery As A Service). They also have a much more widespread sales and service network. We hope Ampere adds this option to lower the upfront costs soon. That would make the Magnus Grand even Grand-er.
