Tata Sierra

Tata Motors, after years of teasing, spyshots, design immersions, and unveil, has finally launched the 2025 Tata Sierra at an introductory price of Rs 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom). While the pricing is just unveiled for the base variant, the detailed pricing will follow soon, around early December 2025.

Amidst that news, Tata has officially confirmed that the Sierra will get an all-wheel-drive, i.e. AWD setup! So, what is it about? Let’s find out!

Tata Sierra AWD: Is It Coming?

Now that Tata has already put out all the details of the ICE Sierra, which is offered with two petrol and one diesel engine, this little graphic feels more like a gentle tease meant to keep curious folks hooked. It is not wrong by any means, but it does seem very deliberately placed.

If we think about it,  the Harrier EV already uses an all-wheel-drive setup. One motor sits at the front and another at the back. Using the same logic for the Sierra EV feels almost obvious. In fact, it would be more surprising if Tata chose not to go that way.

So when they hinted that the Sierra would soon offer all-wheel drive during a presentation that was mainly about the ICE model, it might have been a smart way to keep the excitement alive. Technically, they are correct because the feature is on its way. The only thing they have not spelt out is which version of the SUV will get it first.

2025 Tata Sierra Exterior

The new Sierra retains the charm of the original but wraps it in a much cleaner and more modern look. The shape is bold and boxy without trying too hard to appear rugged. The single-piece LED DRL strip at the front and rear gives it a very modern vibe. The side profile clearly carries inspiration from the old Sierra’s alpine window design. Naturally, there are changes to meet current safety norms and the addition of rear doors. There are six body colours to pick from, and you can see all of them in our Sierra colours story.

2025 Tata Sierra Interior

Inside the cabin, things feel upmarket the moment you step in. The dual tone layout, extensive use of soft touch leatherette and reworked storage areas create a neat and premium space. The seats are new, the controls feel fresh, and there is generous room in both rows. Tata has managed to free up good rear seat space with clever packaging. You can check how it fits people of different heights in our detailed space test:

2025 Tata Sierra Features

Tata has also loaded it with tech that even pricier SUVs might envy. The highlight is the triple-screen setup. The driver gets a 10.25-inch display, the centre gets a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, and the passenger gets another 12.3-inch touchscreen. The passenger screen even supports Tata’s Arcade app that lets you install apps, watch shows and plug in a controller for gaming.

Other features include powered front seats with memory for the driver, a 12-speaker JBL audio system with a soundbar integrated into the dash (neat!), ventilated front seats, rear sunshades, a wireless charger and multi-colour ambient lighting.

2025 Tata Sierra Safety

Safety equipment includes six airbags, all-wheel disc brakes, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX mounts, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera and more than twenty level 2 ADAS features. The crash test rating is not out yet, but considering Tata’s track record, a five-star result seems likely.

Tata even showcased their internal crash test footage, where they did a car-to-car crash test, which was a first in India! That’s something…

2025 Tata Sierra Rivals

The Sierra enters a fiercely competitive compact SUV segment where it will take on the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Victoris, Maruti Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq, MG Astor and Volkswagen Taigun.

ZigSays…

Bottom line, Tata knows exactly how to keep the crowd talking. The Sierra arrives well loaded, well priced and well timed. With an AWD EV likely on its way, the lineup is only going to get stronger from here.
