The 2025 KTM 390 Adventure X is here, and the bike is offered as a road-biased alternative to the KTM 390 Adventure. The bike is a lot more affordable than the 2025 390 Adventure, but misses out on a few features such as tubeless spoke wheels and adjustable suspension. 

With these changes, you might be wondering if this bike is the one that you should go for or would it make more sense to just get the 2025 KTM 390 Adventure. In this article, we will be going over what the bike has to offer and also answering the question, who should buy this one.

Perfect For Touring?

The KTM 390 Adventure X is powered by a 398cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine which makes 46PS and 39Nm. This performance is quite adequate to meet touring needs, which the 390 Adventure X is primarily geared towards.

We have experienced the same engine on the KTM 390 Duke, and what we really liked about it is how tractable it is. The engine also has decent bottom-end grunt, which also makes it easier to ride in city traffic. That said, the motor is most happy above 7,000rpm and it really comes alive once you cross that mark.

So when it comes to touring, the power and performance will make quite a difference. It will allow the rider to easily cruise at triple digit speeds without much trouble. That said, we are a bit let down by the fact that KTM didn’t offer cruise control on this bike. It would really cement the 390 Adventure X’s touring potential.

No Obstacles?

The 390 Adventure X misses out on adjustable suspension, which comes as standard on the 2025 KTM 390 Adventure. That said, the bike will still have some good off-road capabilities. It gets a long travel WP-Apex fork with 200mm travel. It also has a preload-adjustable monoshock which offers 200mm wheel travel. The bike has a ground clearance of 227mm which is the same as what the KTM 390 Adventure offers.

Now, the suspension and ground clearance are quite decent, and in theory should make the bike suited to handling light trails and a few off-road obstacles. The bike also gets switchable ABS, which will allow riders to perform controlled slides off-road. That said, the smaller 19-inch front and 18-inch alloy wheel setup makes it clear that the 390 Adventure X is more of a touring-focused ADV.

One place where the suspension setup will really shine is when encountering bad patches of roads. It will be able to absorb most bumps and potholes without much trouble. This will come in handy when travelling to new locations where good roads might not be guaranteed.

The KTM 390 Adventure X is a simpler, no nonsense touring bike which also offers decent off-road capabilities. The bike is perfect for those who are looking for a powerful road-biased ADV which can handle long distance touring without much trouble.
