Lamborghini has just launched the Urus SE in India with a price tag of Rs 4.57 crore (ex-showroom). And with that, Lamborghini’s lineup now has more hybrids than pure combustion engine models. It’s a hard pill to digest, but the raging bull too is embracing electrification, but at least there’s no downsizing here as the Urus still retains its twin-turbocharged V8 engine. It looks sharper too and the cabin has also been updated and you’ll find all those details in this story:
As was the case before, the Urus’ nose is dominated by a gaping grille with vertical slats running within it. But the Urus SE’s front looks sleeker in comparison to the previous Urus iterations, thanks to a sleeker LED headlight with a new DRL signature, which is still placed just below the bonnet lining.
Not much has changed in profile. You still get aggressive contours and a chunky side skirting, but the design for alloy wheels (21-inch to 23-inch) is fresh, looks mean. The rear has been tweaked significantly. Ofcourse, you get revised LED tail lights, which like the headlights, are slimmer than before. But the main tweak is the change in positioning for the number plate, which has been moved from the tailgate and has been dropped into the bumper. As a result, the rear looks a lot cleaner than before.
The overall exterior changes don’t just make the Urus SE look sleeker than before, but actually help it boast a 15 percent better aero efficiency, compared to the original Urus.
Not a lot has changed inside the cabin of the Urus SE. The busy layout, made up of hexagonal elements is still similar, but there are new panels for the dashboard along with minute tweaks here and there. But what isn’t minute are the new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.. For personalisation, the cabin can be finished in 43 colours, and you ofcourse have the option to go all out and spec your Urus SE in a bespoke trim via Lamborghini’s Ad Personam program.
Despite the plug-in hybrid tech, there’s no downsizing here as the Urus SE still gets a 4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine. Paired with the electric motor, the combined output stands at a whopping 800 PS and 950 Nm. All this power is managed by all four wheels, which are connected to an 8-speed torque converter. As a result, it’s mind-bogglingly rapid with a 0-100kmph time of 3.4 seconds, and a top speed of 312 kmph.
While the performance numbers might not be very different from the Urus’ before this one, the whole experience of driving it will be. A major role in that will be of the 25.9kWh battery pack, which allows for an EV-only driving range of up to 60km. It can even do speeds of 130kmph in pure EV mode, which is more than what our Indian expressways permit!

At Rs 4.57 crore (ex-showroom), the Urus SE is slightly dearer than the outgoing Urus S. It continues to rival the likes of the Aston Martin DBX, Porsche Cayenne Turbo, and Audi RS Q8.
